Today one of my students was sharing with the class some of the culture and traditions of her native country. Chase seemed quite intrigued during the short presentation. As soon as she was done he pipped up: I've seen someone with your color of skin but it wasn't you our your family.
That's funny. I thought she and her family were the only ones with that color of skin . . .

I know I'm not a first grade teacher, but I had to share my story from Friday. Friday afternoon we were finger painting the alphabet. I had worn my hair down on Friday, so before we started, I pulled it half back. My hair is still not quite long enough for the sides to stay in place, so I had a few strands hanging in my face. At one point, on little girl came over to me with her originally perfectly done bun now undone and kinky across her shoulders. I asked her, "why did you take your hair stuff out?" She held out a bobby pin to me and declared, "cuz it looks like you REALLY need this." I didn't know my hair was that bad!!! :) cute huh?
Ha ha. I love it! Feel free to share stories any time!
Cute blog!
